Professor J. Richard Middleton’s lecture will present a comprehensive biblical vision of God’s love and care for the entire universe, and his overarching purpose to fill creation with the fullness of his presence. Surveying the biblical vistas of God’s creation purpose, the pervasive tragedy of human rebellion, and the redemptive incarnation of Christ, Richard’s talk will climax with the New Testament’s promise of the redemption of all things – ‘a new heaven and a new earth’.
Professor Middleton is well known for The Transforming Vision, the book he wrote with Brian Walsh introducing the biblical worldview.
J. Richard Middleton is Professor of Biblical Studies at Northeastern Seminary in Rochester, New York, and serves as adjunct professor of Old Testament at the Caribbean Graduate School of Theology in Kingston, Jamaica. He is a Theology Fellow for BioLogos, a US organisation helping Christians integrate theology and science.
Born and raised in Jamaica, Richard did his BTh at the Jamaica Theological Seminary, holds an MA in philosophy from the University of Guelph (Canada) and a PhD in theology from the Free University of Amsterdam. He has authored a number of books and articles on topics from creation theology to biblical eschatology, via themes of suffering and power.
