Biblical Divorce by David Instone-Brewer

People have struggled with failed marriages ever since Jesus’ teaching was interpreted as ‘Once married, always married’. Biblical scholar David Instone-Brewer claims that new findings in Jewish legal terminology suggest that Jesus didn’t throw out the Old Testament laws allowing divorce for abuse, but was rejecting a newly invented no-fault divorce called the ‘Any Cause’ divorce.

    I am in a very happy second marriage to a lovely Godly lady. However I am constantly struggling with what some commentators and speakers have said on the subject. I was in a very unhappy marriage for 25 years but it was me that made the decision to divorce. I should point out that I was equally responsible for the failed marriage.
