With the announcement by the Labour Party that Ed Miliband is their new leader, many will want to know what his vision is for the party and, if he were to become Prime Minister at any point in the future, the country.
Of course, the same question could be asked of each of us: what is our vision for society? As Christians, our response should be shaped through reflection on the question of what the Bible's vision is for society. It is this question that Jubilee Centre seeks to address each day. It is the answer to this question for which, since 1983, Jubilee Centre has sought through rigorous research to make the case. For as the French political scientist Jean Blondel once wrote:
'If we think that politics affects the lives of all of us, and if we also think that we have relevant things to say about how politics works and about what can and cannot be achieved, we have to be visible in the 'city'. ... In a variety of ways and at many different points, we must be prepared to state with some authority what the knowledge we have collectively amassed tells us about what is possible, likely, impossible or plainly wrong.'
So, what is your vision? What are you seeking to achieve in your family, workplace, and neighbourhood?
