The launch of the Jubilee Lifestyle discipleship course got off to a good start by featuring prominently at two Christian conferences over the weekend - one in Milton Keynes, the other in Sheffield. I was very happy I attended the Newfrontiers' conference 'Jubilee +' on church social action, led by Martin Charlesworth and team. It was a measure of the engagement, energy and enthusiasm of the 400 or so people who attended the conference that we weren't distracted by the 27 degree heat in the auditorium!
Jubilee Centre was privileged to be one of only nine organisations invited to have a display table of materials. The other eight were all leading Christian organisations focused on enabling the church to bring the gospel and other help specifically to the poor, the prisoner and the oppressed.
We were very pleased that Martin Charlesworth taught the conference on obeying God's word about relationships with him and neighbour, using the paradigm of Israel through the lens of the New Testament. This made conversations with delegates about the work of Jubilee Centre very easy indeed!
It was also particularly helpful when Martin pointed out the helpfulness of our Jubilee Lifestyle course and we were able to distribute copies of the leaders' guide and enthuse people about using it in their small or cell groups. See here for more information about the course and downloadable copies of the leaders' guide and the participants guide.
