God says, “Do not take life, which He made sacred, other than in the course of justice”. Euthanasia is the act of killing people painlessly, especially someone suffering from an incurable illness. It is also called ‘Mercy killing’ or ‘Assisted suicide’. It shouldn’t be legalized, it is forbidden in our religion because of some reasons. Probably you have seen news on television: “Some governments around the world have legalized euthanasia but generally it remains as a criminal homicide”.
First I would like to describe ‘Why it shouldn’t be legalized?’ Muslims believe that Islam has answers for every problem facing mankind. In Islam Muslims believe that all human life is sacred because it is given by God, and that God chooses how long each person will live. God said, “When their time comes they cannot delay it for a single hour nor can they bring it forward by a single hour.” This is an act of killing and killing is a major sin and thus forbidden in Islam, the religion of pure mercy. In Quran God says’ “Destroy not yourself. Surely God is ever merciful to you.” God examine Muslims by creating a crucial situation and check faith. Muslims who trust on God, they don’t become hopeless. And who become hopeless, they don’t have faith on God. There is a saying that: “God helps them who help themselves.” So patients who commit suicide for relieving their pains, they should trust on God and take care of their selves. Because it is possible that after suffering for a short time they would be healthy and strong. My aunt had cancer, she suffered a lot even she can’t be a mother but she kept faith on God, kept His string tightly and she did take care of herself. After suffering for five years, she became healthy. God blessed her with a son, now she is spending amazing life with her family. According to Quran the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) said: “Amongst the nations before you there was a man who got a wonder, and growing impatient with its pain, he took a knife and cut his hand with it and the blood didn’t stop till he died. God said, ‘My slave hurried to bring death upon himself so I have forbidden him to enter Paradise.’” Christian and Buddhist have faith on their Gods and they believe on God. Their religion is forbidden them to commit ‘Assisted Suicide’ and ‘Mercy Killing’.
Some countries for example Belgium legalized it because of some reasons. First one is to kill person who suffer from incurable illness. Doctors give them injection because they become emotional and think that it is better for them to kill someone painlessly. Second reason is that poor people cannot afford the medication of patients so they order to doctor to kill the patient or stop their medication or they kill themselves. And the other one is that patient cannot bear the pain so he order to the doctor to kill him and give him relieve from this tenderness. Euthanasia was legalized in Holland but now if anyone would do this, is punished by government. As I have already mentioned that television news indicates that some countries legalized euthanasia; before some days I have seen news that in Belgium doctors have given injection to kill the patient for relieving his pain, people have protested against this.
Life is to be protected and promoted as much as possible because life is a very beautiful gift of God. But in cases when sickness gets out of hand, pain would be increased till death then no one can recommend treatment. Thus, the physician stops medication, which happens to be of no use, in this case may be justified, as it helps in mitigating some negative effects of medications, and it enhances death. Euthanasia weakens the trust relationship between the doctor and the patient. We expect doctors to save lives, not to kill. Doctor who kill patient has guilt and become depressed and cannot focus on his job. If euthanasia will be legalized, people will take benefit from it. They will commit suicide because of unnecessary reasons and it will have bad effects on any country. “We are not creatures of circumstance; we are creators of circumstance.”
In conclusion, I once again mentioned as I have already discussed, “Euthanasia shouldn’t be legalized”. For betterment of countries governments should strictly control euthanasia. It is also the duty of the doctors, patient's relatives and the state to take care of the sick and to do their best to reduce the pain and suffering of the sick. “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.”

Leo

A very famous saying is: "God helps those who help themselves". Quite apart from jumping off a high cliff, the means are in the public domain. Why should the disabled lose this freedom?

Actually I can think of a reason: Because they are far more likely to abuse that freedom. But I would have liked to see more discussion from this point of view.

Euthanasia cannot be discussed in isolation from how healthcare is funded, because only a tiny minority would ever pay doctors to be killed, but the State could conceivably bump people off in large numbers to free up hospital beds.
