People have struggled with failed marriages ever since Jesus' teaching was interpreted as 'Once married, always married'. Biblical scholar David Instone-Brewer claims that new findings in Jewish legal terminology suggest that Jesus didn't throw out the Old Testament laws allowing divorce for abuse, but was rejecting a newly invented no-fault divorce called the 'Any Cause' divorce.
