The marriage event – Monday 11th April

Marriage event flyer

When: Monday 11th April (6:30-8:30pm)

Where: St Michael’s Church, Chester Square, London SW1W 9EF

For as long as there has been man and woman there has been marriage.  The Bible paints it as blessing, gifted to mankind before the Fall to enable the flourishing of all creation.  This is what marriage was designed to be, but what has it become?

A rite of passage?  A stagnant symbol of the patriarchy?  An El Dorado for hopeless romantics?   Or something more?

In an age in which more than a third of marriages break down, and fewer and fewer couples get married at all, is there still a unique call on marriage between Christians which sets it apart from the civic institution we recognise today?  Indeed, can that biblical vision for marriage be an inspiration and example to wider society where marriage is under so much pressure?

We think so.  We believe marriage is good for families, good for society and well worth fighting for.

Join Jubilee Centre and the Marriage Foundation as we assess the economic, social and cultural pressures on marriage, and revisit the biblical vision for it.  We will make the case for exclusive, life-long union and consider how it can survive in a climate of increasing individualism and cynicism.

Our opening speaker is leading researcher Harry Benson (Marriage Foundation) who will analyse growing pressures on marriage and modern marital trends.  A further contribution from marriage champion Nola Leach (CEO, CARE) will explore the biblical vision for marriage and the reality of its future as a social institution.

This event is for absolutely everyone.  Student or pensioner; single, married, widow or divorcee.   We want to look unflinchingly at barriers to marriage and the issues which cause turmoil within it because we believe the Bible’s wisdom in this area is as relevant today as it was in the beginning.  The evening will be fully interactive so please bring your friends and your questions and feel free to express your views.  Refreshments will be served.

Please register below or by clicking here.  We look forward to seeing you there!
