Europe’s involvement in Africa’s security landscape has deepened significantly since 2011, shaped by the collapse of Libya, the rise of extremist groups across the Sahel, and increasing instability across the region. These developments have contributed to a surge in migration, human trafficking, smuggling, and other harmful dynamics affecting both Africa and Europe. We were honoured to have as speaker General Kabanda (Ret.) with over 37 years of military and diplomatic experience, including extensive involvement in EU/UK–Africa security cooperation.
